Find a state legislator who will introduce some version of our Model Legislation to restore honest and open elections. Call our office (number on home page if we need to talk to them). The basic elements are:
1) Voters who have registered 30 days in advance so that residence can be verified;
2) Easily read paper ballots marked with indelible markers;
3) Placed by the voter in a clear plastic box which is displayed in public all day;
4) With ballots counted in public right there in the neighborhood precinct by voters from that precinct with all factions eligible to be present (those counting the votes are chosen by blind lot from those who show up to count the votes; those chosen get $50 an hour to count the votes in teams of two; two voters are chosen for each 50 votes to be counted (usually this would involve 4 to 10 people in each precinct);
5) Results posted publicly for all to see at the conclusion of the count before the ballots leave the precinct. (Sample legislation to be available soon in more official form.)
6. Computers and level machines outlawed in the precinct.
